Since 2012, Helicotrema – Recorded Audio Festival has been presenting an extensive range of sound researches through sessions of collective listening.
As we are currently working on the 2019’s edition, we are launching an open call to discover new authors and new sound works that we will include in this year’s programme.
Helicotrema 2019_OPEN CALL
We invite artists, authors, poets, performers, musicians, researchers and practitioners of all kinds to propose us audio works for the new edition of the festival, which will take place in November at Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi in Venice, Italy.
We are interested in sound pieces that present a narrative evolution over time, such as audio plays, audio documentaries, experimental poetry, field recordings and other timeline-based formats founded only on an acoustic component.
This year Helicotrema will focus on two main subjects:
– the notion of still life (also considered in comparison to the notion of soundscape)
– the relationship between violence and the act of listening
Like every year the content of the submitted work is open and not bound to any theme, but audio proposals responding to the specific topics written above will be given particular consideration.
The selected pieces will be presented during the sessions of collective listening on the eighth edition of the festival.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE: Send an mp3 version of your audio piece(s) (mono or stereo / maximum 10 minutes / 20 MB) followed by a short description of the work(s) to: helicotremafestival@gmail.
There is no entry fee.
DEADLINE: 15 October 2019
