 Federico Trimeri - 650#3
650 #3 is part of a preliminary study on Alzheimer’s disease and progressive brain conditions that affect memory. As Oliver Sacks affirmed and kept asserting in his following works “Music, which targets areas of the brain not affected by dementia, brings back a sense of identity to dementia patients” (alive inside documentary).
The aim of the project in its entirety is to examine the echoic memory of patients and try to reconstruct through sound the memory they had of themselves.
On 650 #3, part of a 16 minutes long composition, the concept itself of memory loss is reproduce by using a tape loop I’ve found inserted in a modified cassette shell containing glass and sandpaper in order to deteriorate the sound faster, while the micro-variation in the track stands for the mnemonico erosion.
